Spain - 1940 - 1958
El Valle de los Caídos es una basílica católica ["Basílica de la Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos"], construida con mano de obra de esclavizados prisioneros políticos y trabajadores contratados, aunque esto último se pone en duda, entre 1940 y 1958 y situado en el valle de Cuelgamuros, en el municipio de San Lorenzo del Escorial, en la Comunidad de Madrid, España. Se encuentra en la sierra de Guadarrama, 9'5 km al norte del Monasterio de El Escorial. El dictador Francisco Franco ordenó su construcción, y que fuesen enterrados allí José Antonio Primo de Rivera, fundador de la Falange Española y 33.833 combatientes en la Guerra Civil de ambos bandos. Pero fue el bando republicano, perdedor de la guerra, el que fue esclavizado, sin derecho a la libertad, en dicha construcción. El dictador Francisco Franco recibió sepultura en la ignominiosa abadía fascista.

Afortunadamente, sus restos han sido exhumados el 24 de octubre de 2019, y trasladados al cementerio de Mingorrubio, junto con
los de su viuda Carmen Polo, cumpliendo así la Ley de Memoria Histórica.
